Ben and I finally came home yesterday after an unexpected 6 days in the hospital with very low counts and a fever. We were very tired and slept well last night.
Ben’s red blood cells were getting lower everyday and by yesterday, they were too low and he needed a blood transfusion. He had a fast pulse because his heart needed to pump more to get the fewer red blood cells to carry the oxygen to the vital organs. So having the hemoglobin helped boost his red blood cell count and lower his pulse to a more acceptable level. He seems to have more energy today, though still tired.
He is glad that he will be able to have his birthday party with his friends this Saturday. He also misses school as he loves his teacher and his classmates.
Monday, we go back to Children’s to check counts and begin another round of Dexamethasone and more chemo before we are off on our Disneyland trip on June 12th. Ben has already planned what we will be doing each day.
Merci à tous ses amis à l’école pour les messages. Il est très heureux de les lire chaque jour. Merci Marie-Hélène!
Please feel free to leave comments for Ben here, as he really enjoys reading them and they bring his spirits up. Thank you!
