Monday, December 11th, Ben had some blood drawn to check his counts. They had gone down a little but he was still OK to go to school. Even though they were expected to go down this week, he has shown little sign of fatigue or catching a cold or fever. We went out to see Charlotte’s Web on Saturday. He continues to write and illustrate his stories that he has done since he was 4 years old. His “publishing company” is called Sunny Side Up Books. He has continued to play piano and draw a collection of imaginative bugs which he plans on publishing one day.
Ben commences chemo again on Wednesday with a 2 day stay at the hospital receiving a tough drug that had him vomiting last time, called Doxorubicin. We are hoping he will be [ne this time ‘round.
I am trying to give a little surprise to the great nurses at Children’s Hospital but not sure if I can pull it oA. I taught Sandra Oh, the actress from Grey’s Anatomy and many movies, between 1980 and 1983 in Nepean where I used to live. I helped organize the play where she played the part of “The Wizard of Woe” at the age of 12. I thought I would try to get in touch with her and maybe have her come up to Vancouver and surprise all the nurses on the ward. The nurses are great fans of the show, so it would be amazing to have Sandra Oh come in dressed in surgical attire. Ben would love it also. So if anyone has any connections, please let me know.
We are hoping that all will be well so we won’t have to spend Christmas in the hospital.
A special THANK YOU to my grade six class this year at Sherwood Park for the lovely cards and presents for Ben and Stephanie. A very special thank you and hugs to
Wilma, Chantelle and Kimmis for their thoughtfulness and special
touches that always makes Ben and all of us smile.
