Tonight, we all walked 5km to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society raise money for research to And a cure for blood cancers. THANK YOU to all family and friends who donated to help me raise money. In the end, I raised $820 for the Light the Night Walk. Tonight, we walked for Ben, in memory of my mother (who passed away in ’98 from
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma), in memory of my father (who passed away last May from Colon cancer) and for Doug Galloway, who is a survivor and has beat leukemia. He has just finished a Marathon in Hawaii. Way to go, Doug!
Ben had a great time! We were joined by Mieko and Martine who walked with us on this cold night. Ben had just received chemo and was in the hospital for 3 days ending yesterday. He’s a special guy to go on a 5km walk the very next day after his intense chemo. He’s gained a little weight from staying in bed all day but he must have burned
that off tonight.
Treatments continue. Ben shows some signs that his body is tired of all this chemo. He gets tired more quickly during and after the chemo and has more fevers and side e]ects from the treatments. He’s hangin’ in there and continues to fight this disease with a positive attitude.
School is going well. He loves it and continues to do great in class. Ben plays soccer when he can and loves it as he’s on the team with his best friend Daniel. Ben has written 14 books so far and loves to write. There’s a little bit of André (his grand-père) in him.
Ben’s calendar should be out soon. I will let you know when it is available. The proceeds go to BC Children’s Hospital. If you would like a copy, please email me once it is available.
That’s all for now ... more galleries and MOVIES very soon!
