Back in the hospital with another infection...

After much testing, the culprit for the fever turns out to be the E Coli bacteria. It is present in the blood and is causing lots of trouble for our little Ben.

His fevers have gone down with Tylenol but after 6 hours it spikes back up to 39+ºC. He is again given Tylenol and the fever goes down. This has been going on now for 4 days. All this time he has painful stomach aches, he has bouts of nausea and feels very tired most of the day. He is receiving 5 diLerent antibiotics all day and night. Today,

he went for an ultrasound to check for any heart infections. We are continuing to monitor him closely hoping the fever spikes will cease soon.

UPDATE 2 (Fri. Nov. 24th)

Ben’s fevers seemed to have stopped. It was found that Ben also has another bacteria called Clostridium Diffcile that is causing bad stomach and intestinal cramps, diarrhea and fever. It was not discovered until now as it is a slow growing bacteria. The

antibiotics that he is on are the right ones and as long as there are no more fevers, he should

be released from hospital in 2 weeks.
